How to tell if the Shirt Fits
Clothes do not make the man, but they can make the package pleasing to the eye or send you dizzy! It’s not in the price of the clothing that distinguishes you from the crowd, its all in the fit. So a few quick tips to assist you when purchasing a staple component of your wardrobe, a SHIRT.
- Seams: Set in sleeves need to be located outside the shoulder bone
- Sleeve width: pinch the fabric on the upper arm, you should grab approx 2.5cm of double fabric – more than that the sleeve is too big, less its too tight
- Buttons: need to remain closed when buttoned, Is there a 2.5cm allowance under the armpit and along the side of the body?
- Sleeve length- A shirt under the jacket needs to extend .75-1.25cm from the jacket
- Collar’s, if you can fit two fingers in then it fits. A collar that is too large looks awful and a collar that is too tight will send you looking for the paracetamol.
- Overall fit- if there is any gathering or straining anywhere- it doesn’t fit,If the shirt doesn’t stay neatly tucked in, it doesn’t fit
